Blog #2

Q: You are an American and it is September 1, 1939. Word has reached America that the Nazis have just invaded Poland. Should the United States join the Allies in a fight against Hitler and the Axis powers? Give at least two pieces of factual evidence from the reading to support your stance.

A: I think that the U.S. should join the Allied Powers, and fight against Hitler and his Axis powers. Not only Hitler, but Stalin, and even Mussolini are growing in power and national pride. With Japan now in the picture, it seems that unless we do something about this, then they are only going to gain power and get to the point where they may be unstoppable. According to the textbook, all of these powers knew that they had some power and would end treaties that were in place. An example is when Japan ended the 12 year old Washington Naval Treaty (804). Not only that, it appears that these leaders, primarily Hitler are getting drunk with power, and would act on impulse, which turned out to be a problem. An example is when Hitler suddenly, and unexpectedly occupied Poland (805). Chances are he is not going to stop and that is why we need to intervene.
